Boldt Castle Stopover Cruise from Gananoque

Enjoy a pleasurable cruise through the American and Canadian spans of the 1000 Islands for a 2-hour visit to Boldt Castle, one of the islands' landmark icons.

Navigate the St. Lawrence River for views of the scenic 1000 Islands until you reach Heart Island, home island to Boldt Castle. George Boldt, millionaire proprietor of the world-famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City, began construction of a full-size Rhineland Castle in 1900 as a grandiose symbol of his love for his wife, Louise. The castle was to be a six-story, 120-room abode with tunnels, a powerhouse, Italian gardens, a drawbridge and a dovecote.

Construction came to a halt in 1904 when Louise died suddenly. Boldt never returned to the island, and the unfinished structure was left exposed for 75 years to harsh weather elements. Several million dollars have been applied to rehabilitating, restoring and improving the structures on Heart Island since 1977 for visitors to enjoy.

The total cruise time is 5 hours, which includes 3 hours in cruise time and a 2-hour stopover on Heart Island.

NOTE: Admission prices to Boldt Castle and its accompanying Yacht House are NOT included with the price of the cruise. Admission prices are nominal.

Cancellation Policy

All sales are final. There are no refunds.

Change Policy

If changes are allowed on a tour or activity, a $20.00 per reservation change fee will be applied for any change to a reservation. Please note that some tours and activities do not allow any changes. Date changes can only be made only if we can confirm availability on the new date. While we cannot guarantee any changes can be made, all change requests must be submitted a minimum of 24 hours prior to the tour departure and must be handled on an individual basis through our Reservations Center.
